Response to Orange Shirt Day Topic

Recently, an image of an orange t-shirt was posted on a Facebook page which was associated with the name Cardston High School. This particular page is not is an official website of the Cardston High School, and our administration does not have control over its content.
Orange T-Shirt day is a national movement in Canada, and has become instrumental in starting discussions regarding Canada’s history of mistreatment and abuse of Indigenous peoples through mandated Residential School.
The Cardston High School continues to honour the survivors of Residential School, and recognizes the negative social and health impact on the descendants of Residential School survivors. Cardston High School strives to promote and foster respect and mutual understanding with local First Nations and communities. We want our students to consider and reflect upon the impacts of the policies and actions of the Government of Canada and the churches that operated Residential Schools.
