COUGAR ATHLETIC AWARDS
Cardston High School Cougar All Star Team
These awards are given to IMPACT PLAYERS who exemplify a positive attitude with teammates, coaches, and officials, and exhibit a high level of effort and skill. Athletes may get nominated for more than one sport. They are nominated by their coaches at the end of the season of play. Awards will be a certificate of achievement.
Cardston High School All Academic Team
This award is given to the individual who best represents a well-rounded student who maintains high marks and participates in a number of sports. This award will be given to one female and one male student in each grade with the highest GPA, with consideration given to the number of sports played and the academic rigor of the courses taken. This award will be a medal.
Cardston High School Academic Athlete of the Year
This award is given to the individual who best represents a well-rounded student who maintains high marks and participates in a number of sports. This award will be given to one female and one male student in each grade with the highest GPA, with consideration given to the number of sports played and the academic rigor of the courses taken. This award will be a medal.
Cardston High School Volunteer of the Year
This award will go to one female and one male (athlete or non athlete) in the school who consistently volunteered to help at events. This award will be decided by the athletic committee. The award will be a certificate.
Cardston High School Athlete Citizenship award
This award will go to one female and one male athlete who exemplifies positive citizenship throughout their school year, on and off the playing field. Coaches will nominate players upon the conclusion of their season of play. This award will be a certificate.
Cardston High School Athletes of the Year Grade 9 - 11
This award will be given to one female and one male athlete in each grade that has excelled at a high level in multiple sports. This will be awarded based on point totals earned throughout the school year. (Information found below). This award will be a medal.
Lori Howe Female Athlete of the Year
This award will be given to a female athlete in grade 12 who has excelled at a high level in multiple sports. This will be awarded based on point totals earned throughout the school year. (Information found below). This award will be a plaque, as well as scholarship money, as donated per year.
Ken McMurray Male Athlete of the Year
This award will be given to a male athlete in grade 12 who has excelled at a high level in multiple sports. This will be awarded based on point totals earned throughout the school year. (Information found below). This award will be a plaque, as well as scholarship money, as donated per year.
ATHLETE OF THE YEAR POINT SYSTEM
Student athletes can receive points for their involvement with Cardston High School athletic teams. Coaches are responsible for awarding points to athletes on their individual teams.
35 Points: Athletic Excellence
25 Points: Athletic Honors
10 Points: Athletic Participation
It is the intention of the athletic program to promote student success through their involvement within athletics. Coaches must consider the athletic ability, commitment, leadership and role of each student athlete. Excellence can be measured in a variety of different circumstances and it is left to the discretion of the coach who is involved with communicating such expectations to the athletes. Points should be awarded to student athletes who have made a difference to the success of our athletic program.
